Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O’Connor aka Lorde is a singer, songwriter and record producer. She was born in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand on 7th November 1996. She is the second of four children of poet Sonja Yelich. She holds citizenship of both New Zealand and Croatia.
Ella joined a drama group at the age of five and developed public speaking skills. She attended Vauxhall School as a child and then later in teens she joined Belmont Intermediate School.
On 3rd June 2013, Lorde released her super-hit debut single “Royals”. The song got critically acclaimed worldwide and won various awards including for Best Pop Solo Performance and Song of the Year at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards as well as at the APRA Silver Scroll Award.
